The Moth Catchers
Research Residency
Sherkin Island 11 – 13 June
Inspired by the work of feminist Mexican surrealist Remdios Varo this was a 3-day research residency on Sherkin Island with lead artists Jesse Jones and Naomi Nkosi. Philip set up some humane moth traps on the island to catch moths, so that they could be examined and observed; their habitat, mannerisms, characteristics, movements and very importantly the sounds they make. Irene Buckley designed the score for ‘The Moth Catchers’.
