Public Open Call – Storyteller in Residence, West Cork Islands

Creative Places West Cork Islands and Cork County Council seek to award a contract for services for a Storyteller in Residence who is engaged in the professional practice of oral storytelling. The residency runs from January to October 2025, and will be managed by Creative Places West Cork Islands. Collaborative group applications consisting of 2 people or more are welcome.

The Storyteller in Residence is in association with Storytellers of Ireland and the Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival.

The Storyteller in Residence will deliver a programme of activities designed to:

Research potential engagements and opportunities across the seven islands.

Engage islanders with stories connected to place and culture on the West Cork Islands.

Explore themes and rhythms through oral storytelling and composition.

Develop their own practice through the creation of new work.

Create events, activities and instances that are informed by islander life and experience.

Connect with the Gaeltacht culture and language of Oileán Chléire through story.

Knowledge of Irish is desirable for this residency.
