Paula Marten Print Making Workshop, Sherkin Island, Duration 6 Weeks

Paula Marten, a qualified Art Teacher currently teaching QQI Level 5 Art at the West Cork Campus in Skibbereen, proposes a 6-week Printmaking Workshop on Sherkin Island. Paula has previously taught a variety of art classes at the Sherkin Island Community Centre, including mask-making, felt-making, and lino printing, with the latter also being combined with ceramics. These past classes have been well-received, with a good uptake, and Paula’s experience in teaching ensures that people of all skill levels are able to participate.

This new workshop will introduce participants to a variety of printmaking techniques, providing them with the opportunity to experiment and create their own individual pieces of artwork. The techniques covered will include:

• Drypoint etching from an acetate plate and foam tiles
• Gel Plate Printing
• Mono Printing
• Kitchen Lithography

Throughout the six-week period, participants will have the chance to combine these techniques and explore their creative potential. By the end of the workshop, students will have gained hands-on experience in printmaking, developing both technical skills and artistic expression. Paula’s approach ensures an inclusive and engaging environment, catering to both beginners and more advanced participants.
