As part of their sea- themed music project West Cork Choral Singers will be performing on Sherkin Island. Landing on the Island on Sunday 17th May, they will make their way to the Jolly Roger where their director, Susan Nares, will lead an open workshop with ballads and shanties. Following this, participants will be invited to join them in a concert at St Mona’s Church. The music spans 5 centuries and 5 seas. From ballads to laments, lullabies to dreamscapes and from opera to shanties. We’re also bringing 3 special guests; Gheorghe Palcu, bass/baritone, Lisa Quartey, traditional singer and composer, Ross Craigmile, pianist.
17th May 2026 – Workshop 12.30 at The Jolly Roger (free, all welcome with song-sheets provided), Concert 2.30 at St Mona’s Church (€10 free to Islanders and children.)
